Edmond de Rothschild Foundations and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation announce their new partnership to strengthen and disrupt the entrepreneurial impact ecosystem in Europe. The focus will be activating and building unprecedented bridges between startups, entrepreneurs, civil society, universities, investors and public sector leaders. The partnership also aims to create global synergies in the foundations’ common areas of impact and work, in particular, artistic practices.

The formalisation of this partnership between Edmond de Rothschild Foundations and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is the result of a fruitful collaboration in recent years, particularly over the Ariane de Rothschild Fellowship. This unprecedented initiative will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Lisbon in 2019 and will be hosted by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The Foundations are also founding partners of the new Pan-European accelerator for impact startups called Maze X that will start in May this year. The accelerator will select the ten most promising startups from across Europe to work for nine months in Lisbon. During the programme, the startups will implement pilot projects with large corporates and they will optimise their business models to address the most pressing social and environmental issues of our time. The accelerator Maze X is implemented by MAZE, an impact investment company founded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in 2013.
