An interview with the seven young artists from five major art schools on their experience of working with children.
In order to convey some of my work and passion to the children, I worked with them on writing, a choice directly inspired by my own artistic practice. The experience was so succesful that it resulted in a work presented at the Biennale of Graphic Design of which I am this year's winner. I want to continue working in schools. What surprised me most was the extent to which, despite their young age - between nine and twelve years - children could be receptive and take charge. One of the great assets of this program is that it takes place during a whole school year. In one year, we have time to attack a complex project. It is a luxury to have the same class six hours a week for a year. In addition, we were very well supported throughout the year: in September, even before joining our respective schools, we were trained with professionals who shared their experience of working in the school environment. It is a valuable aid: we benefit from an external view on our work throughout the year.
