Juilliard in Paris, France and America at their best !

7/26/2013 - Arts

An unique program of master classes by José Van Dam was carried out in Paris last June as a result of a close partnership between the Edmond de Rothschild Foundation and Juilliard School, New York.

Five top students from Juilliard arrived in France on June 1st along with their artistic director Brian Zeger and Denise Massé, the renowned coach of French repertoire at the Metropolitan Opera. Ranging from Cincinnati, Washington, Seoul and New York, four singers and a pianist worked closely with famous baritone José van Dam during an intensive week at the Studio Bastille of Paris Opera. Their training focused on vocal techniques and interpretation of French opera solos and duets.

The highlight of this initiative was a private concert held at Paris 18th century Musée Jacquemart-André. The performance by the young artists was an extraordinary mix of lyrical talent, sensitivity to French repertoire and interaction with the public.

The Edmond de Rothschild Foundations and Juilliard will strengthen their one of a kind partnership by bringing a new group of laureates to Paris in 2014. See you next year !
