2012 Scale Up Program: The Edmond de Rothschild Foundations renew their partnership with ESSEC Business School

9/5/2011 - Social Entrepreneurship

After a successful start to their Scale Up program in 2010 working with two social enterprises - Puerto Cacao and Extramuros - the Edmond de Rothschild Foundations together with the Institut de l’Innovation et de l’Entrepreneuriat Social (IIES) of ESSEC Business School are scaling up the initiative itself, aimed at supporting the development strategies of high-potential social enterprises.

Many social enterprises encounter serious HR and financial hurdles when trying to further develop a model that has proven its potential on a small scale. With this in mind, the Edmond de Rothschild Foundations teamed up with ESSEC to create an innovative program to provide selected enterprises with the skills necessary to increase the social impact of their work. Three new features have been added to Scale Up based on the results of the 2010 pilot program:

• In addition to dedicated support throughout the strategy development phase, which culminates in the creation of a socially-oriented business plan, 2011 participants will also develop a strategy to raise over €500,000 in funding.

• A new network of volunteer legal, communication and marketing experts will provide entrepreneurs in the program with highly-qualified professional advice.

• Lastly, students from top French schools can complete an internship at each of the selected social enterprises and contribute to the companies’ development strategies over the long term.

On December 8, professionals in the sector and potential investors are invited to the Centre of New Industries and Technologies in Paris to discover the five social enterprises selected by Scale Up’s special panel of experts. For more information, contact pcavillot@ebdrf.com.
