Ashoka Changemakers’ Week

6/23/2011 - Social Entrepreneurship

The Edmond de Rothschild Foundations attended Ashoka Changemakers’ Week to share their insight into teaching social entrepreneurship in universities.

Ashoka hosted the first international gathering of “agents of change” – social entrepreneurs, opinion leaders, decision makers and media representatives – at HEC Paris on June 21-22, 2011. Some 1,000 participants met to discuss the initiatives needed in the sector of social entrepreneurship.

The Edmond de Rothschild Foundations gave a presentation on social entrepreneurship training together with Ashoka and ESSEC Business School. Panel members answered a variety of questions, including: “Can social entrepreneurship be taught? Do innovative and effective models exist? What changes need to be made to university programs?”

The Scale Up program and the AdR Fellowship, both developed by the Foundations, were cited as examples of social entrepreneurship training.

The Edmond de Rothschild Foundations take part in events such as these to promote both learning programs for social entrepreneurs and the transition of new graduates in France into the social entrepreneurship sector.
